Parents we need your support! The guidance office has been busy meeting with senior students. Our goal is to help them on their pathway through and after graduation. We need your help to help them! We know without a doubt that their families are the most important influence in their lives. We need you to encourage them to be involved in the process of defining the next steps in their future. There are several opportunities coming up where they will need to be involved and part of the process. At times, they are very unsure of what they want to do. Your conversations with them will help us help them become successful!
We have been sending out regularly, as it comes in, scholarship information. Please have your student check their Crestview email accounts. There is scholarship information in the guidance office. They need to apply in order to have an opportunity to receive free scholarship money! Many times scholarships go unfilled due to lack of applications. If they need any help with that process, please see Ms. Henry in the guidance office.
In addition, if your student is a senior and they plan to go to college, they should complete a FAFSA. Many schools base some of their free money on the results of it. They also cannot receive free state money, work study, federal free money, nor student loans unless it has been completed. See Mrs. Stimpert in the guidance office for assistance. Many of our students are concerned about making money or paying for college. We are planning to offer information sessions in the media center to help in understanding where a student can get help. Students should check their Crestview email for further information.
Interested in the military? Mrs. Cordrey can be contacted in the media center for information. Many times she can set up appointments with the recruiters to talk to the students. If your student is interested in a military career or even the benefits that are offered, this is a great opportunity for more information.
Entering the workforce after graduation? There are two very large events being planned at Mid Ohio Educational Service Center spring of 2023. These are hiring events! However, your student must complete some tasks ahead of time to participate. Last year, we sent six students, all who received job offers. Your students must see Mrs. Stimpert for further information. If you would like to see the Junior Achievement opportunity February 2023, you may view this video on YouTube:
For students who are unsure of what they want to do, we have been meeting with them to help them think about their opportunities. We have a series of short videos that are to be shown during GAP. If your student let us know that a particular career interests them, we may be able to get companies or colleges to come talk to your student. A survey can be provided that will help them identify their specific interest! We appreciate our supportive community and enjoy the opportunity working with your students!
